This semester I am following at course at CBS in Strategic Outsourcing, getting to know more about the advantages as well as disadvantages to this field. Last semester I was assigned to the IT Strategy course at ITU. Here I was told that outsourcing was emerging great hights and that there would be an increase in outsourced activities. This leaves me with a thought of the public sector. What can we outsource? Back-office, I guess so. What about more complex operations? So these days I’ll be angaged in a study of a large European transportation company, ..well logistics and with a great IT Infrastructure, having a unpleasant outsourcing deal behind them – asking themselves “What?!!” – perhaps being to cost focused, and not understanding the greatness in a win/win situation.
So Ill be taking different things with me back to the public sector. First of all I believe I am a bit more positive towards the gains of the public sector, in regards to outsourcing, partially be cause of the huge lack of labour in the very near future. And I see other great things, as well as dis-advantages.
